The historic Fort Des Moines Chapel is available
year-round for weddings, baptisms, music recitals/
programs, commencement and other ceremonies. The
chapel seats 200 people in its sanctuary and an
additional 20 chairs can be added behind the pews.
Piano, organ, candelabras with candles and snuffer
are included. The chapel is air-conditioned and
heated. A minimum of four hours rental time is
required for weddings, which can be divided between
the rehearsal and ceremony.
The Main Reception Room holds 112 people seated
at round tables or 100 theater style and is available
year round for receptions, meetings, luncheons
and dinners and other events. There is seating
for 32 on the covered porch and a smaller room
off of the kitchenette that can seat 32 at rounds.
The kitchenette is equipped with a full-size commercial
freezer and refrigerator, microwave and dishwasher.
You are welcome to use any caterer/vendor that
you wish and there are no additional kitchen fees.
Ten 6 foot banquet tables, fifteen 60” round
tables, and 112 white folding chairs are included.
The Fort Des Moines Museum and Education Center
is located at 75 E. Army Post Road in Des Moines.
The Museum is open regularly Monday - Saturday,
10 AM – 4 PM. The Museum honors the U.S.
Army’s First officer candidate class for
African American men in 1917, and the establishment
of the Women’s Army Auxiliary Corps (WAAC’s)
in 1942. There are group tour and museum rental
