| The mission of Fort des Moines Museum
and Education Center through exhibits, educational programming
and public use of the facility is to preserve, promote,
and perpetuate the heritage of service, sacrifice and
risk taken by the Black men of World War I and the women
of World War II.
Fort Des Moines Museum and Education Center will present
a World Class Historical Center that honors the sacrifices
made to bring gender and racial equality to the United
States Army during World War I and World War II.
This landmark will be a:
· National attraction with artifacts, exhibits,
archival photographs and period art.
· Resource center for students and educators.
· Historical site for conferences, meetings and
celebrations.
